About
D.H. Day Campground is one of northern Michigan's most popular camping destinations, situated in the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The 88 spacious, wooded campsites provide a rustic camping experience surrounded by northern hardwood and conifer forests, with Lake Michigan beaches just a short walk away. The campground offers excellent access to the park's key attractions. The multi-use Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail passes directly through the campground, providing over 20 miles of biking and hiking opportunities. The historic village of Glen Haven is a 15-minute walk away, while the famous Dune Climb is just 2 miles south. Other nearby attractions include Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive (4.2 miles), Alligator Hill Trail (less than 1 mile), and the village of Glen Arbor (1.5 miles). Each campsite includes a parking area, large picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Shared water spigots and vault toilets are available throughout the campground. A dump station is located at the entrance. While the campground itself is rustic, free hot showers are available 17 miles south at Platte River Campground. Firewood is sold on-site at a self-pay station. The campground accommodates RVs and trailers up to 35 feet, with some walk-to tent sites available.
