D.H. Day Group Campground provides rustic tent camping for groups within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Situated roughly midway between the Dune Climb and Glen Haven along a dirt road, the campground offers ready access to the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail and miles of towering sand dunes. Each of the four group sites accommodates 7 to 25 people and includes a picnic table and campfire ring. The facilities are intentionally minimal: vault toilets are available year-round, while potable water is only available during the May through October reservation season. There are no showers, electric hookups, or RV accommodations. Fires must be completely extinguished with water before leaving. Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. All campers must check in at the main D.H. Day Campground office before proceeding to the group sites. Pets are strictly prohibited in the group camping area. The campground provides an excellent base for exploring Lake Michigan beaches, though visitors should note that no lifeguards are on duty and poison ivy is abundant in the surrounding woods.

Directions

Located at 8010 West Harbor Highway (M-109), roughly one mile north of the Dune Climb and midway between the Dune Climb and Glen Haven in the northern part of the park. Access is via dirt road from M-109.
