About
William Mitchell State Park Campground offers 221 modern campsites on 770 acres of prime recreation land between Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell in Cadillac, Michigan. The campground is one of only 14 Michigan State Parks open year-round for camping, making it a destination for all seasons. Sites feature electric hookups with some 50-amp service available, and many are nestled under mature trees with select premium sites directly on the historic Clam Lake Canal. The quarter-mile canal connects the two lakes and is popular for shore fishing. The modern campground includes heated toilet and shower buildings, two sanitation stations with potable water, pull-through sites for easy access, and a playground. A boat launch on Lake Cadillac provides direct water access from the campground. The park also features mini cabins and camper cabins for those seeking alternative accommodations. Additional amenities include kayak and paddleboard rentals via the Friends of Mitchell State Park, a beach house with restrooms and changing facilities on Lake Mitchell, a swimming area, and a fishing pier. Both lakes offer excellent fishing for perch, walleye, northern pike, panfish, and bass. The Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center serves as the park's visitor center with interpretive displays and archery and pellet gun ranges. Winter activities include snowmobiling access to nearby trail systems, ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park starts from the eastern shore of Lake Cadillac, and a 7.5-mile loop bike path circles the lake.
