Special Weather Statement issued May 22 at 1:43PM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI
The combination of dry surface conditions, low afternoon relative humidity values, and gusty east to southeast winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan the remainder of this afternoon. Sustained winds of 7 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be seen over northern Michigan this afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values of 20 to 35 percent are expected over much of northern lower Michigan. These conditions could lead to rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. For more information on burning restrictions for Michigan, see www.dnr.state.mi.us//.

About
D.H. Day Group Campground offers a dedicated space for group tent camping in the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The four sites (G001-G004) accommodate groups of 7 to 25 people in a spacious, open setting with sparse vegetation. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and seasonal potable water (mid-May through mid-October) are available. The campground sits approximately one mile north of the Dune Climb, where visitors can walk over sand dunes exceeding 200 feet in height and trek 1.5 miles to Lake Michigan. Glen Haven beach, popular for swimming and beachcombing, is about one mile away. Canoe and kayak rentals are available in Glen Harbor for floating the Crystal River. This is a tent-only facility with no RV access. Pets are strictly prohibited in the group camping area. All campers must check in at the main D.H. Day Campground (8000 W Harbor Highway, Glen Arbor) before setting up camp. A park entrance pass is required in addition to camping fees.
