About
Todd Lake Recreation Area sits in the mountains of Augusta County within the George Washington National Forest. This historic campground provides 18 moderately sized campsites, two of which are ADA-accessible, along with a scenic lake featuring a wheelchair-accessible beach. The campground is well-equipped with flush restrooms, hot showers for registered campers, potable water at community hydrants, and a dump station.
The recreation area caters to families with a children's playground, open fields, grills, and picnic tables throughout. Nearby trails attract hikers, backpackers, and mountain biking enthusiasts. Sites accommodate one RV or two tents, with a maximum of two vehicles and eight persons per site. The campground is not suitable for large RVs.
Todd Lake operates on a first-come, first-served basis from mid-May through late October. Visitors must arrive in person to claim and pay for a site. Payment options include cash, check, or the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature.
Directions
From Harrisonburg, VA: Travel south on State Route 42 through Bridgewater. Continue 3.2 miles to the intersection of SR 42 and SR 809/747 (at sharp left-hand turn). Turn right onto SR 809/747 and continue 3.4 miles to the four-way stop in Mt. Solon. Continue straight on SR 747 (Freemason Run Road) for 2.3 miles to a three-way stop. Continue straight on SR 747 for 1.0 mile to the intersection with SR 730 (Stokesville Road). Continue straight on SR 730 for 1.3 miles to the intersection with SR 718 (Stokesville Road). Continue straight for 1.1 miles to the intersection of Forest Service Road 95 and FSR 101. Turn left onto FSR 95 and travel 3.1 miles to Todd Lake Recreation Area on the right.
