About

Hone Quarry Campground sits in the North River Ranger District of George Washington National Forest, within one mile of Hone Quarry Reservoir. The campground serves as a base for exploring the surrounding mountain terrain, with nearby trailheads providing access to popular rock climbing areas that draw climbers to the region. The campground itself features a picturesque stream running through the area and offers a short hike to a 15-foot waterfall. An adjacent group picnic shelter is available at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. The setting combines forested camping with convenient access to water-based recreation at the reservoir and technical climbing opportunities on nearby rock faces. Campers should come prepared with their own drinking water and cash or check for the $5 per night camping fee. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis only, with no advance reservations available. Payment can be made on-site by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app in areas with cellular service.
