About
Timber Hill Park is a 20-site primitive campground located on the eastern shore of Big Hill Lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Situated atop a wooded hill, the campground offers generous shade from mature oak trees and a peaceful setting in Kansas' Little Ozarks region. The park provides non-electric campsites suitable for tent camping and RVs, with direct access to a boat ramp and nearby horse trails.
The campground is positioned in Labette County, approximately 5 miles east of Cherryvale, making it a convenient getaway for outdoor enthusiasts seeking fishing, boating, and equestrian recreation. Big Hill Lake is known as one of the most productive fishing spots in the area, with fish shelters and standing timber providing excellent habitat. The reservoir offers 367 acres of water available for public use.
Timber Hill Park operates as a more rustic alternative to the other parks at Big Hill Lake, appealing to campers who prefer a primitive camping experience without electrical hookups. The campground's hilltop location provides natural beauty while remaining accessible to lake amenities. Sites are available through advance reservation or on a first-come, first-served basis when not reserved.
