About

Tidewater Campground sits adjacent to the Tidewater Trailhead within the 53,000+ acre Goethe State Forest in Levy County, Florida. This primitive camping area caters to tent campers and RV users seeking a rustic experience without hookups. The campground provides 11 reservable sites: 5 RV or tent sites accommodating up to 8 people each, 4 tent-only primitive backpacking sites, one group tent site for up to 20 people, and a day-use pavilion. Each campsite features a fire ring, grill, and picnic table. Restrooms are located at the trailhead but provide only non-potable water, so campers must bring their own drinking water. No showers, electric hookups, or dump stations are available. Recreational activities include hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, bird watching, and wildlife photography. Campers should be aware of snakes and alligators in the area and must bear and raccoon-proof all food and garbage. During hunting seasons, wearing day-glo orange is recommended. Prescribed burns and logging operations occur regularly throughout the forest.
