About
Shangri-La Trailhead and Campground sits in the rolling sandhills along the southern boundary of the Cross Florida Greenway, just south of historic sea-level Cross Florida Ship Canal diggings from the 1930s. The campground features 24 compacted shell sites designed primarily for equestrian campers, with large pull-ins suitable for horse trailers. Sites do not have electric hookups, but generators are permitted outside quiet hours. The campground includes communal water, a full bathhouse facility, and two covered picnic pavilions. The location provides direct access to 10.6 miles of equestrian trails through xeric hammock, plus connections to the Cross Florida Greenway's extensive trail network. Mountain bikers can access the internationally-acclaimed 63.4-mile Santos trail system via a single-track connection. The trails wind through towering pines, oaks, and mixed hardwoods where white-tailed deer, fox squirrels, wild turkey, and bobcat roam. Day-use facilities include an ample equestrian and bike trailhead with a picnic pavilion and restrooms with potable water. Campground hosts are on-site year-round. The park is open 8 a.m. until sundown daily, with no fee required for day use. Supply shops and restaurants are located just a couple miles away. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance through Reserve America.
