About
Bridgeview Park sits on the scenic shores of Rathbun Lake in the gently rolling hills of the Chariton River Valley in southeast Iowa. The 11,000-acre reservoir, often called "Iowa's Ocean," is one of the best sailing lakes in the state due to its prevailing winds. Anglers will find excellent fishing for crappie, channel catfish, walleye, and largemouth bass. The campground features 106 family campsites spread across open grassy areas dotted with shade trees. Ninety-five sites offer electric hookups with 30 and 50-amp service, while 11 primitive sites are available for tent camping. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hanger. Facilities include flush toilets, vault toilets, shower buildings, drinking water, and a dump station. A boat ramp provides direct lake access. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese, and wild turkeys frequently spotted. Nearby attractions include the Rathbun Fish Hatchery, which offers self-guided tours and produces hundreds of thousands of catfish and walleye annually, and Southern Iowa's only Off Highway Vehicle Park located just three miles away in an abandoned rock quarry.
