About

Situated on the banks of the White River in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, The Dalles Campground offers a classic Pacific Northwest camping experience beneath a diverse old-growth forest canopy. Sites are widely spaced, with many positioned at the water's edge. The campground features 41 standard nonelectric sites accommodating tents and RVs up to 45 feet, plus five barrier-free accessible sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets and potable water are available throughout the campground. Hiking and fishing are the primary recreational activities. The half-mile John Muir Nature Trail, a barrier-free interpretive path, begins at the historic CCC-built picnic shelter near the campground entrance. At the west end of the campground loop stands the "Big Tree," a 700-year-old Douglas fir measuring 9.5 feet in diameter, marking the start of the Dalles River View Trail. The White River and its tributaries support several species of salmon and trout for anglers. On clear days, Mount Rainier dominates the landscape to the south. The campground provides convenient access to both Mount Rainier National Park and the broader Cascade region.
