About

Buck Creek Horse Camp is a free, primitive equestrian campground connected to the larger Ranger Creek camping area in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Located on Forest Road 7160 just off Highway 410, the campground sits at approximately 2,500 feet elevation in a shady forest setting between the town of Greenwater and Crystal Mountain ski resort. The historic horse camp provides access to an extensive trail system popular with equestrians. The main trail to the west, commonly called Sun Top, connects to Ranger Creek Trail, White River Trail, and leads to Deep Creek Trail with access to Corral Pass. These trails offer varied terrain through old-growth forest along the White River corridor. Facilities are minimal and the site receives limited maintenance. Campers will find picnic tables and fire pits at sites, with hitching posts available at some locations. A single vault toilet serves the campground. No potable water is available, so all campers must pack in their own water supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is not reservable through Recreation.gov. A valid $5/day Recreation Pass is required due to proximity to fee trailheads.

Directions

From Enumclaw, travel east on State Highway 410 for approximately 30 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 7160. The horse camp is about a quarter mile off Highway 410.
