About
The Crags Campground sits in a scenic spruce forest on the slopes of Pikes Peak within Pike National Forest. The 17 sites cater to tent campers and those with smaller RVs or trailers, offering a quieter alternative to more developed campgrounds in the area. Visitors will notice changes in the landscape as spruce trees continue to be affected by beetle infestation, part of the natural succession in this high-elevation environment. The campground's primary draw is its proximity to excellent hiking. The Crags Trail (#664) and Devil's Playground Trail (#753) both begin at the nearby trailhead, just 1/8 mile before the campground entrance. These trails offer routes toward Pikes Peak and the distinctive rock formations that give the area its name. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility with no trash dumpsters. Vault toilets and potable water are provided, but there are no hookups or other RV amenities. The access road (Forest Road 383) is narrow, winding, and rough, making it unsuitable for large trailers or big rigs. Bears are active in the area, so proper food storage is essential.
Directions
From Divide, drive 4.3 miles south on CO Highway 67. Turn left (east) onto Forest Road 383 and continue 3.5 miles to the campground. The access road is narrow, winding, and rough.
