About

South Meadows Campground provides a scenic basecamp in Pike National Forest at 8,000 feet elevation, tucked into a stand of ponderosa pines roughly 5 miles north of Woodland Park. The campground's 64 sites are connected by paved roads, with each site equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets are available throughout, and potable water is accessible during the peak season from Memorial Day through mid-September. The campground's main draw is its direct access to the 4.2-mile paved Centennial Trail, which connects South Meadows to Manitou Lake Picnic Area and Colorado Campground. The trail accommodates hikers, bicyclists, and inline skaters. Anglers can fish at nearby Manitou Lake and Trout Creek, while OHV enthusiasts have access to the Rainbow Falls and North Divide trail systems. Woodland Park, located 5 miles south, provides convenient access to gas, groceries, and dining. Popular regional attractions include Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Afternoon thunderstorms are common during summer months, so campers should be prepared for lightning.

Directions

From Colorado Springs, travel west on Highway 24 for approximately 18 miles to the Highway 24 and Highway 67 intersection in Woodland Park. Turn right (north) on Highway 67 and travel approximately 5.5 miles. The campground entrance is on the left.
