North Shore
Open for the 2026 season from April 17 through October 4. Reservations available via Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance. Six sites are first-come-first-served. Three-night minimum required for holiday weekends.
About
North Shore Campground provides a peaceful retreat in the San Bernardino National Forest at 5,400 feet elevation. Located 23 miles northeast of San Bernardino and just 3 miles from Lake Arrowhead Village, the campground is nestled in a mixed oak and conifer woodland setting. The 26 campsites include both reservable and first-come-first-served options, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground connects to the North Shore National Recreation Trail, a 1.7-mile path descending through mixed conifer forest along Little Bear Creek to Papoose Lake. Firewood is available for purchase and a campground host is on-site during the operating season. Most sites are designated tent-only, though two standard sites can accommodate RVs without hookups. Lake Gregory, located about 40 minutes away, offers fishing, boat rentals, and a waterslide park for day trips. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake with no public access despite its proximity.
Directions
From San Bernardino, take Highway 18 about 20 miles to the Lake Arrowhead exit. Take Highway 173 for 5 miles to the northeast side of the lake. Turn right on Hospital Road and follow it to the campground.
