About
North Shore Campground offers a peaceful mountain retreat in the San Bernardino National Forest, located 23 miles northeast of San Bernardino and about 3 miles from Lake Arrowhead Village. Set in a mixed oak and conifer forest at approximately 5,300 feet elevation, the campground provides a quiet escape from urban areas while remaining accessible to amenities. The campground features 28 family campsites, with 22 available for reservation and 6 operated as first-come first-served. Most sites are designed for tent camping, though some can accommodate smaller RVs without hookups. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. The facility provides flush toilets, drinking water, and firewood available for purchase. A campground host is on-site during the operating season. The North Shore National Recreation Trail begins at the campground, offering a 1.7-mile descent through mixed conifer forest to Papoose Lake, with scenic views of Little Bear Creek along the way. While Lake Arrowhead is nearby, it is a private lake with no public access for campers. Lake Gregory, located about 40 minutes away, offers fishing, boat rentals, and a waterslide park for additional recreation options.
Directions
From San Bernardino, take Highway 18 about 20 miles to the Lake Arrowhead exit. Take Highway 173 for approximately 5 miles to the northeast side of the lake. Turn right on Hospital Road and follow it to the campground entrance.
