About
Swan Lake Campsites is one of the most sought-after primitive camping destinations in Hiawatha National Forest's dispersed campsite program. The four campsites are situated along the shores of 52-acre Swan Lake and accessible via the Pine Marten Run Trail, which is open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Each site offers a rustic forest experience with excellent swimming areas and good fishing opportunities for largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegills, and pumpkinseeds. The campsites vary in size and configuration. Site 1 sits on a small hill overlooking the west shore, isolated from the others, near a public boat launch to Steuben Lake. Sites 2-4 are located on the southwest side of the lake, with Sites 3 and 4 adjacent to one another and reservable together for larger groups. All sites feature fire pits and tables, though no drinking water is available. Three primitive pit toilets serve the area. The sites are nestled among hardwood trees and pines, providing a peaceful, natural setting for your camping experience.
