About

Lake Nineteen Campsite offers a true backcountry camping experience in the heart of the Ironjaw Semi-Primitive Area. This single tent-only site on the eastern shore of Lake Nineteen can only be reached by boat, on foot, or horseback via the Pine Marten Run Trail, approximately 2.5 miles from the middle trailhead. The area is managed for quiet, peaceful recreation in a semi-primitive setting with minimal development. The campsite has no amenities: no toilets, no potable water, no tables, and no established fire rings. Campers must bring all water and supplies and pack out everything. Deadwood collection from the surrounding area is permitted for campfires. Lake Nineteen has been stocked with rainbow trout, offering good fishing opportunities for licensed anglers. Boat access to Lake Nineteen is steep but on firm ground. There is no turnaround at the base of the hill, so trailers must be backed down to the lake. Parking is limited to a small area at the top of the hill. Horse camping is allowed with specific requirements for hay, feed, and manure removal.

Directions

From the intersection of US-2 and Forest Highway 13 (about 14 miles east of Rapid River): drive north 18.7 miles on Highway 13 to County Road 440. Turn right (east) on CR 440 and drive 4.6 miles to FR 2733. Turn left (north) and drive 1.3 miles to the parking area.
