About
Ewing Point Campsite offers a peaceful, secluded camping experience on the northern shore of the 132-acre McKeever Lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This single tent-only site accommodates up to 8 people on a grassy 50x75 ft clearing surrounded by hemlock and cedar trees. Access requires a 650-foot walk on a primitive trail that includes a narrow 20-foot bridge, starting from the boat launch parking area. The site provides basic amenities including a fire ring with grill, lantern post, and picnic tables. A wilderness toilet is available, but there is no potable water; campers must bring their own or obtain water from nearby Pete's Lake Campground. Trash is pack-in/pack-out. McKeever Lake has a sandy bottom ideal for wading and offers fishing for musky, pike, bass, and panfish. Bruno's Run Hiking Trail, a 9-mile network, passes through the area with trailheads near the parking lot. Boats can be hand-carried to the lake, though large vessels are not recommended due to shallow water.
Directions
From Munising, MI: Take State Route M-28 to Wetmore and turn south on Forest Highway 13. Travel about 15 miles, then turn left on Forest Service Road 2173 at the Petes Lake Campground sign. Turn south at the sign for McKeever Lake. The campsite is accessed through the boat launch parking area via a 650-foot primitive trail.
