Closed — Closed for the season. Typically operates mid-June through mid-October. Water system upgrades are scheduled for late 2025 or 2026, and no water may be available when the campground reopens.

About

Summit View Campground is nestled at 7,200 feet elevation in a lodgepole pine forest within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Located eight miles east of Georgetown, Idaho, the campground offers 18 single-family campsites and three group sites surrounded by summer wildflowers and abundant wild huckleberries in the fall. The campground sits within the Great Western Trail corridor, providing excellent access for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The Harrington Peak trail, a 3.5-mile one-way trail to the summit, begins directly from the campground. An amphitheater is available for group programs and gatherings. Campground amenities include vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads. Roads and parking spurs are dirt and maintained for passenger vehicles. The campground is accessible via County Road 102 and Forest Road 095 from U.S. Highway 30. Wildlife viewing and hunting opportunities are plentiful in the surrounding Bear River Range.

Directions

From Georgetown, Idaho, turn east on County Road 102. Travel two miles and turn left on Forest Road 095 (signed Left Fork of Georgetown Canyon). Continue about six miles to the campground. Forest Road 095 is graveled and maintained for passenger vehicles.
