About
General Creek Group Campground is located within Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park, one of the finest natural areas remaining on Lake Tahoe. The group camping area features 8 sites ranging in capacity from 16 to 100 people, situated in dense forests of pine, fir, aspen, and cedar. The campground is positioned across Highway 89 from the park's lakeside day-use area, which offers nearly two miles of lake frontage. The park provides excellent access to outdoor activities including hiking trails throughout the park, swimming at the beach, fishing in General Creek and Lake Tahoe, and exploring the historic Hellman-Ehrman Mansion built in 1903. During winter months, the park features over 20 kilometers of marked cross-country ski trails. Each campsite includes a table and fire ring, with bear-resistant food lockers provided. Restrooms with showers and a sanitary dump station are available for registered campers. Black bears are very active in this area, and strict food storage regulations are enforced year-round. The park sits at the heart of traditional Washoe Indian territory, where generations came to hunt and fish along these peaceful shores. Summer temperatures range from 75-80°F during the day to the low 40s at night, while winter temperatures average 40°F highs to teens or 20s at night.
