About

General Creek Campground is the main camping area at Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park on Lake Tahoe's west shore. The 175-site campground is divided into multiple loops surrounded by a mixed conifer forest of sugar pines, Jeffrey pines, and firs. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-resistant food locker. Six combination restroom and shower buildings serve the campground, with flush toilets and coin-operated showers available during the summer season. The park offers excellent recreational opportunities including swimming at the sandy beach, hiking on miles of trails, and touring the historic Hellman-Ehrman Mansion. The Lakefront Interpretive Trail provides accessible paved access along the shoreline. During winter, the park transforms into a cross-country skiing destination with over 20 kilometers of marked trails, and a heated restroom remains open in the campground. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through ReserveCalifornia for the summer season, which typically runs from late May through September. After September 30, camping switches to first-come-first-served in the first loop only, and the showers and dump station close for the winter.
