About
General Creek Campground is the largest of the three west shore state park campgrounds at Lake Tahoe, featuring 175 family campsites and 10 group sites within Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park. The campground is located inland across Highway 89 from the park's lakeside day use area, nestled in dense forests of pine, fir, aspen and cedar. The park contains nearly two miles of Lake Tahoe frontage and is considered one of the finest remaining natural areas on the lake. During summer season, all 175 sites are available by reservation through Reserve California. The campground includes 10 tent-only sites, with the remainder accommodating both RVs and tents. Each site features a table and fire ring, with access to restrooms, hot showers, and a dump station. Food must be stored in the provided metal bear-resistant food lockers at all times due to active black bear populations. Winter camping is available at 24 sites on a first-come, first-served basis starting October 1st. The campground features over 20 kilometers of marked cross-country ski trails and a heated restroom. Campground roads are plowed unless overwhelming snow occurs, though campers are responsible for shoveling out their own fire rings, food lockers, and picnic tables. The park is located 10 miles south of Tahoe City on Highway 89.
