Meeks Bay Resort & Campground occupies a prime location on Lake Tahoe's west shore between Sugar Pine Point and D.L. Bliss State Parks. The Washoe Tribe of California and Nevada operates this historic resort under a special use permit from the USDA Forest Service, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. The property features 54 tent-only campsites split between areas north and south of Meeks Creek, plus 23 full-hookup RV sites that can accommodate rigs up to 60 feet. Amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, hot showers (token-operated), fire rings at each campsite, and bear-proof food storage lockers. The main lodge houses a camp store with snacks, souvenirs, and sundries, while the Wa She Shu Grill serves breakfast and lunch. WiFi is available at the store. Kayaks and paddleboards are available for rental to explore the bay's clear blue waters. The campground provides direct access to the sandy Meeks Bay beach and serves as a trailhead for the Meeks Bay Trail, which climbs into Desolation Wilderness toward Phipps Pass. Strict rules apply: no pets are permitted anywhere on the property, quiet hours run from 10 PM to 6 AM, and maximum occupancy is 6 people per site.
