Steer Basin Campground offers a peaceful camping experience in the Sawtooth National Forest with 4 individual campsites positioned along Rock Creek. This compact campground operates exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis, requiring visitors to physically arrive at the site to claim and pay for their spot. Payment can be made on-site by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app and the Scan and Pay feature, though cellular service may be limited in this remote area. The campground is primarily designed for tent camping, with limited space available for smaller motor homes and trailers. The rustic setting provides an authentic backcountry camping experience without hookups or modern amenities. Access to the campground is seasonal, typically available between April and October, with closures during winter months due to snow and weather conditions.

Directions

From Twin Falls, travel east 8 miles on ID 50 and US 30, then head south 20 miles on Rock Creek Road (County Road G3/Forest Road #515) to reach the campground.
