About
Diamondfield Jack Campground and Picnic Area sits at the terminus of a paved road in Rock Creek Canyon within the Minidoka Ranger District of Sawtooth National Forest. This versatile campground serves dual purposes throughout the year: traditional camping from spring through fall, and winter recreation from December through March when the area transforms into a popular destination for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The campground is suitable for motor homes, trailers, and tent camping, with amenities including drinking water from faucets, wheelchair-accessible vault toilets, picnic tables at each site, fire rings, a warming shelter for winter visitors, and ample parking. Sites accommodate up to two vehicles per campsite, with vehicles required to park on provided gravel spurs. The facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no camping fees. Nearby recreation includes Pike Mountain Trail #239 and Eagle Trail #243, both easy multi-use trails ideal for hiking and exploration. The campground's location in Rock Creek provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, with the area known for sightings of the uncommon Cassia Crossbill. During winter months, the large parking area serves snowmobilers and cross-country skiers accessing the surrounding terrain. Campers are limited to 14 consecutive days within any 28-day period on the Minidoka Ranger District.
