About
Pettit Campground and Picnic Area is a small seasonal campground in the Minidoka Ranger District of Sawtooth National Forest, composed of 8 individual camping units. The campground accommodates motorhomes, trailers, and tent camping on a first-come, first-served basis. A campground host manages the facility and visits the area weekly during the operating season. The campground operates as a fee area with self-pay fee envelopes and a collection box at the entrance. Sites include picnic tables, and vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own water as no potable water is provided. Each site is limited to 2 vehicles which must be parked on provided gravel spurs. Horses are not permitted in the campground. Campers are subject to the Minidoka Ranger District's 14-day stay limit: camping is prohibited for more than 14 days within any 28-day period. After 14 consecutive days, campers must move off National Forest lands within the district for a minimum of 14 days. The campground is accessible seasonally, typically from June through September, depending on weather and snow conditions.
