About
Father and Sons Campground and Picnic Area is a developed Forest Service campground situated near Cottonwood Ridge in the Sawtooth National Forest, approximately 21 miles west of Oakley, Idaho on Forest Road 500 (Oakley Rogerson Road). The campground consists of 12 individual campsites and 1 group site with a combined capacity of 100 people, suitable for both trailer and tent camping. The campground provides vault toilets and picnic tables but does not offer potable water, so visitors must bring their own. The surrounding area is popular for ATV riding and mountain biking, with numerous trails accessible from the campground. Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy opportunities at Big Cottonwood Creek nearby. The campground typically operates from June through September, though dates vary by season and conditions. Camping is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. The Minidoka Ranger District enforces a 14-day stay limit within any 28-day period. Each site accommodates up to 2 vehicles, which must be parked on designated gravel spurs. Horses are not permitted in the campground.
