About
Spring Creek Camp Area is a scenic first-come, first-served campground located on the shores of Hebgen Lake in the Hebgen Lake Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest. The campground features 15 campsites with driveway lengths ranging from 40 to over 100 feet, including one pull-through site. Most sites offer lakeside locations with varying degrees of shade and lake views.
Situated at 6,240 feet elevation, the campground provides direct access to Hebgen Lake's excellent fishing opportunities for brown trout, rainbow trout, and chub. Visitors can also enjoy swimming, boating, and observing herons and pelicans fishing along the shoreline. The campground is equipped with accessible vault toilets but does not provide potable water, so campers must bring their own supply.
Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. Firewood is available for purchase from the Lonesomehurst Campground host for $10 per bundle. The campground is located approximately 18 miles northwest of West Yellowstone via US Highway 20 and Denny Creek Road, making it a convenient base for exploring the area surrounding Yellowstone National Park.
Directions
From West Yellowstone, travel 8 miles west on US Highway 20, then 10 miles north on Denny Creek Road.
