About

Cabin Creek Campground is located near the Madison River on the Hebgen Lake Ranger District in southwestern Montana, just 25 minutes from West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park's west entrance. The campground sits between Hebgen and Earthquake Lakes in a mature pine and Douglas fir forest, where plentiful grasses and summer wildflowers cover the forest floor. The campground offers 15 single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. One accessible site is available with accessible fire grates, tables, and toilet facilities. Firewood is available for purchase at $10 per bundle. Sites accommodate RVs with average parking spurs of 22' x 30'. The 6-mile Cabin Creek Trail begins at the campground and is open to hikers and horseback riders. Earthquake Lake, formed by the 1959 earthquake and landslide, is less than three miles away and offers fishing and canoeing opportunities. A visitor center nearby features interpretive displays about the earthquake. Hebgen Lake, considered Montana's premier still-water fishing lake, has healthy populations of brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. The Madison River across the road provides excellent fishing access.
