About

Beaver Creek Campground is located on the Hebgen Lake Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest, nestled on a hillside above the Madison River and Earthquake Lake. The campground features 67 single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. The forest setting includes pine, Douglas fir, and aspen trees, with plentiful grasses and summer wildflowers covering the forest floor. The campground provides vault toilets, drinking water, food storage lockers, and trash collection. Two accessible sites are located in C Loop. Firewood is available for purchase at $10 per bundle. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, with sites priced at $26 per night including two vehicles, plus $9 for each additional vehicle. Recreation opportunities abound in the area. Earthquake Lake, formed by the 1959 earthquake and landslide, offers fishing and canoeing accessible via trails from the campground or from the highway less than a mile away. A nearby visitor center features interpretive displays about the earthquake. Hebgen Lake, considered Montana's premier still-water fishing lake, holds healthy populations of brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. The Cabin Creek Trail, beginning at nearby Cabin Creek Campground, provides 6 miles of hiking and horseback riding. The campground's location less than 30 minutes from West Yellowstone provides convenient access to Yellowstone National Park's wildlife viewing, geological features, and scenic attractions.
