Beaver Creek Campground

Open

Open seasonally from May 15 through September 27, weather dependent. Sites are reservable via Recreation.gov or available first-come, first-served. Bears frequent the area; all food must be stored in approved containers.

About

Beaver Creek Campground occupies a scenic hillside above the Madison River and Earthquake Lake in the Custer Gallatin National Forest. The 67 sites are spread across three loops (A, B, and C), each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and access to bear-resistant food storage lockers. Pine, Douglas fir, and aspen forest the area, with wildflowers covering the forest floor in summer. Earthquake Lake offers fishing and canoeing accessible via trails from the campground or from the highway less than a mile away. A nearby visitor center features interpretive displays on the 1959 earthquake and landslide that created the lake. Hebgen Lake, considered Montana's premier still-water fishing destination, supports healthy populations of brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. West Yellowstone provides dining, shopping, and lodging options, along with the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. Yellowstone National Park's wildlife, scenery, and geothermal features are within 30 minutes.
