Spillway
Open

The group pavilion is open and available for reservations through Recreation.gov. Note: This is a day-use recreation area, not a traditional campground. The only reservable facility is a group shelter with electric hookup; there are no individual campsites for tent or RV camping.

About

Spillway Recreation Area sits in a sheltered cove of Lake Ouachita, offering calm waters protected from prevailing winds. The facility serves primarily as a day-use area with a reservable group shelter that accommodates up to 50 people with 20-amp electric service and space for 15 vehicles. The swim beach and boat ramp provide direct access to Lake Ouachita's 40,000 acres of clear water. The area is also home to the Echo Canyon Resort and Marina and serves as an access point for the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT), a 40-mile hiking trail that meanders along the southern shore of the lake. Lake Ouachita sits just 10 miles west of Hot Springs National Park in the Ouachita Mountains, fed by the cool waters of the Ouachita River. This is an unstaffed location managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is a designated alcohol-free area by court order, and golf carts and off-road vehicles are prohibited.

Directions

From Hot Springs, AR: Take US 270 west to AR-227 N/Mountain Pine Rd for 6 miles. Continue straight on Blakely Dam Road through Mountain Pine and past Blakely Mountain Dam. Spillway Recreation Area is at the end of Blakely Dam Road.
