About

South Fourche Recreation Area is a primitive roadside campground nestled along the scenic Arkansas Scenic 7 Byway in Yell County. Located just one mile south of Hollis, this Ouachita National Forest site provides direct access to the South Fourche River for non-motorized floating and paddling. The campground offers a peaceful, minimalist camping experience for those seeking solitude in the Ouachita Mountains. While amenities are limited with no restrooms or potable water available, the low $5 per night fee and year-round access make it an appealing option for self-sufficient campers. A picnic area is available for day use at no charge. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to several trail systems, with the Horsethief and Billy Creek Trails located within three miles. The area is managed by the Jessieville-Winona-Fourche Ranger District.
