About

Sourwood Campground sits along the scenic Tellico River on Forest Road 210 in the Cherokee National Forest. This free, primitive campground offers a quiet retreat for campers seeking a rustic experience near the water. Located approximately half a mile upriver from the small fishing community of Green Cove, Sourwood provides intimate access to the cool waters of the Tellico River, making it popular with anglers and those looking to escape into nature. As one of several small campgrounds lining Tellico River Road, Sourwood offers a secluded setting with basic amenities. The area is known for its excellent fishing opportunities and proximity to attractions like Bald River Falls. This primitive campground provides a true backcountry experience while still being accessible by vehicle along the forest road. Campers should come prepared for primitive conditions. The campground has pit toilets but no potable water, trash service, or hookups. Visitors must pack in all supplies and pack out all trash. The remote location and lack of developed facilities make this an ideal spot for experienced campers who value solitude and natural surroundings over modern conveniences.
