About
McNabb Creek Group Campground sits along the North River, a major tributary of the Tellico River, in the southern Appalachians of Cherokee National Forest. This group-only campground has long served as a hub for fishermen, hunters, and family reunions seeking a private, rustic setting. The single group site accommodates 10 to 60 people and up to 60 vehicles. The campground offers basic amenities including grills, picnic tables, and portable toilets. There is no potable water on site, though drinking water is available at nearby campgrounds. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility. Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. The site accepts tents, RVs, and trailers up to 35 feet. All food must be stored in bear-proof containers, locked vehicles, or hard-sided campers when not in use. The North River provides fishing and swimming opportunities, while the surrounding Cherokee National Forest offers hiking trails and seasonal hunting. The mountain town of Tellico Plains is less than 20 miles away, and the Cherohala Skyway National Scenic Byway is accessible 18 miles from the campground.
Directions
From Tellico Plains, turn onto TN 165 for approximately 5 miles, turn right onto Forest Road 210 going past the Ranger Station for about 10 miles. Turn left on FR 217. The campground is approximately 2 miles upstream on the left.
