About
Soup Springs Campground is a lightly-used primitive campground in Modoc National Forest, providing access to the South Warner Wilderness. The campground serves both hikers and equestrians, though horses are not permitted within the campground proper. Corrals are available near the equestrian trailhead, which merges with the hiker trail a short distance from camp to form the Slide Creek Trail. Facilities are minimal but adequate for wilderness staging. Vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but there is no potable water available on site. Campers must bring all drinking water. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit. The area lies within the South Warner Wilderness, offering access to high-elevation terrain in the Warner Mountains. The Jess Valley area nearby has had toxic algal bloom advisories in the Pit River tributaries, so visitors should be aware of water safety concerns in the region.
Directions
