About
East Creek Equestrian Campground is the designated horse camping area for the South Warner Wilderness in Modoc National Forest. Horses are no longer permitted at Patterson Campground, making East Creek the primary staging point for wilderness pack trips. The campground provides essential equestrian amenities including 12x12 metal pipe corrals at each site and stock water for horses. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fireplace. The East Creek Trail is currently closed due to the Blue Fire, but a connector trail to Patterson Campground provides access to Summit Trail. Potable water is available on-site, though there are no restroom facilities. Campers must pack out all trash and waste. The campground is located at the end of a winding 8-mile stretch of County Road 64 past Blue Lake, accessible from Likely, California off Highway 395. The remote location and light usage make it ideal for those seeking solitude with their stock animals.
