About
Blue Lake Campground is situated in the beautiful South Warner Mountains of Modoc National Forest in a tranquil and remote area of northeastern California. The campground features 48 large and well-spaced campsites on a gentle slope above Blue Lake, providing plenty of shade from ponderosa pine and white fir trees. At an elevation of 6,050 feet, the setting offers a peaceful escape with stunning mountain scenery. The 160-acre Blue Lake is a favorite for local anglers and is regularly stocked by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Campers can enjoy fishing, swimming, and boating on the clear blue waters. A three-mile trail encircles the lake, with a paved section along the east shore connecting the campground to the boat ramp and a fishing platform. The boat dock is available during summer months. The campground includes a group site that requires a minimum of three camp pads to be occupied. Most campsites operate on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit. The remote location approximately 15 miles east of Likely and 35 miles south of Alturas makes this an ideal destination for those seeking solitude and a connection to nature.
Directions
From Alturas, go south on US Highway 395 to Likely. Turn east on County Road 64/Jess Valley Road and go 9 miles to Blue Lake Road. Turn right on Blue Lake Road and follow the signs approximately 8.5 miles to the campground.
