About

Mill Creek Falls Campground is a small, primitive Forest Service campground nestled in thick pine forests above Jess Valley at the southern end of the Warner Mountains. Located on the edge of the South Warner Wilderness, it serves as an ideal base camp for exploring this remote and lightly-visited wilderness area in northeastern California. The campground doubles as a trailhead, with the Mill Creek Trail departing from the southwest edge of the wilderness. The trail to Mill Creek Falls is rated easy to moderate and suitable for hikers of all ages. No wilderness permits are required, though hikers should sign in at the trailhead. Lake and stream fishing opportunities are nearby. Amenities are basic but adequate: vault toilets, potable water, and picnic tables at each site. Fire rings are available and fires are permitted even when restrictions apply elsewhere on the forest. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no reservations. Usage is typically light, making it a good option for those seeking solitude.
