Located on the edge of the South Warner Wilderness, Mill Creek Falls Campground is nestled in the thick pine forests above Jess Valley at the south end of the Warner Mountains. Its easy access via paved roads makes it an ideal base camp for wilderness exploration while maintaining a quiet, lightly-used character. The campground serves as the trailhead for Mill Creek Falls and provides ample parking for both day hikers and backpackers heading into the South Warner Wilderness. Nearby Clear Lake and Mill Creek offer fishing opportunities, with Clear Lake regularly stocked with rainbow trout. The setting in dense pine forest provides ample shade during hot summer days. Operating first-come, first-served from early June through late October, the campground features vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site. Dogs are welcome on leash, and the 14-day stay limit allows for extended visits. At 18 miles south of Alturas via Highway 395 and Likely, the campground offers convenient access while maintaining the remote, quiet character of the Modoc National Forest.

Directions

From Alturas go south on US Highway 395 approximately 18 miles to Likely. Turn east on County Road 64/Jess Valley Road and go 3.2 miles to Blue Lake Road and West Warner Road. Turn left (northeast) on West Warner Road for 2.5 miles to Mill Creek Road. Turn right and follow the signs to Mill Creek Falls Campground.
