Cedar Campground sits within Ludington State Park, a 5,300-acre park nestled between the 5,000-acre Hamlin Lake and seven miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. As the only campground in the park open year-round, Cedar serves as the hub for both summer beach-goers and winter cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The campground offers 110 modern sites with electricity and 8 tent-only sites without hookups, all with access to flush restroom and shower facilities. The Dune Grass Concessions camp store at the campground entrance provides firewood, groceries, bike rentals, and souvenirs. A playground sits adjacent to the campground, and mini-cabins are available for those seeking a bit more shelter. The cabins sleep five with a double bed and three singles, include a mini-fridge and electric heater, and have an outdoor fire pit and picnic table. Ludington State Park is renowned for the Big Sable Point Lighthouse, accessible via a 1.8-mile hike through dunes and forest. The park's trail system spans 21 miles, offering routes through varied terrain including beaches, forests, and dune ecosystems. The location provides excellent opportunities for paddling, with access points to both lakes and the channel connecting them.
