Beachwood Campground

Beechwood Campground occupies the heart of Ludington State Park, a 5,300-acre preserve where Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake nearly meet. With 147 modern campsites, Beechwood is the park's largest camping area and among Michigan's most sought-after. Sites are shaded by mature hardwoods and spaced to provide privacy. Each site has an electric hookup (some with 50-amp service), fire ring, and picnic table. Modern restroom buildings with flush toilets and hot showers serve the campground. Hamlin Lake lies immediately adjacent, offering boat docking facilities, excellent fishing, and calm paddling waters. The Hamlin Lake Beach is the closest swimming area to Beechwood. Lake Michigan's beaches and the historic Big Sable Point Lighthouse are accessible via park trails, including the Lost Lake Trail from the northern loop and the Coast Guard Trail from the middle section. A boardwalk connects the campground's eastern edge to additional trail networks. The campground includes a playground, recycling center, and sanitation station for RV waste disposal. One ADA-accessible mini-cabin sleeps five and features a mini refrigerator, electric heater, table and chairs, plus an outdoor picnic table, fire pit, and waist-high grill. Reservations are handled through the Michigan DNR system and are strongly recommended, as Beechwood fills quickly during summer months.

Directions

From US-10 in Ludington, take M-116 north for approximately 8 miles. The park entrance is at 8800 W. M-116. Beechwood Campground is located within the park, closest to Hamlin Lake.
