About
Pines Campground is one of three modern campgrounds within Ludington State Park, offering 98 campsites with electric service including some 50-amp sites. As the smallest campground in the park, it is located just inside the main park entrance on the western edge near Lake Michigan's shoreline. The campground provides convenient access to the park's beautiful beach and serves as the closest camping option to the Big Sable Point Lighthouse trailhead, which begins between campsites 58 and 59. The park encompasses nearly 5,300 acres of diverse landscape including scenic sand dunes, forests, ponds, and marshlands, with several miles of shoreline on both Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake. Pines Campground features modern restrooms with showers, a mini cabin option, and handicap accessible facilities. The campground is situated in a prime location for exploring the park's 21 miles of marked trails and experiencing the natural beauty of Michigan's western shoreline. Ludington State Park is Michigan's premier camping destination, known for its high occupancy rates during peak season. The park offers outstanding recreational opportunities including beach activities, lighthouse tours available May through October, hiking, and wildlife viewing across its extensive acreage between two major water bodies.
