Pines State Park Campground

Open

The campground is open for the 2026 season. Pines Campground operates from April through October. The Skyline Trail is undergoing renovation through late 2026 but the campground and other park trails remain accessible.

About

Pines Campground occupies the western portion of Ludington State Park, placing campers within walking distance of Lake Michigan's beaches and dunes. The 98 modern sites are divided into north and south loops, all featuring electric hookups (20/30-amp standard, some 50-amp), fire pits, grills, and picnic tables. The campground is heavily wooded with mature pines, providing shade but limited privacy between sites. Modern restroom and shower facilities serve the campground, with water spigots distributed throughout and a dump station located at the park entrance. A mini-cabin is also available for those seeking a roofed option. The Lighthouse Trail begins between sites 58 and 59, leading northwest to the iconic Big Sable Point Lighthouse. Ludington State Park encompasses over 5,000 acres with 21 miles of marked trails, extensive Lake Michigan shoreline, and the 5,000-acre Hamlin Lake. Reservations are handled through MiDNRReservations.com with an $8 online booking fee. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry.
