Lieber State Recreation Area

Lieber State Recreation Area is situated on the 1,400-acre Cagles Mill Lake, Indiana's oldest flood control reservoir, located in Putnam County near Cloverdale. The campground provides a mix of over 200 sites across two distinct camping areas. Poplar Grove campground features 115 Class A electric sites with 30 and 50-amp hookups, while Sunny Acres offers 94 Class B non-electric sites for a more traditional camping experience. The recreation area is well-equipped with modern amenities including flush restrooms with showers, ADA-accessible facilities, dump stations for RVs, and frost-free water hydrants throughout. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. A camp store provides firewood, ice, groceries, and bait and tackle. The marina offers boat rentals including jon boats and motorized boats, moorage, and a fishing pier with fish cleaning station. Popular activities include fishing for largemouth bass, channel catfish, and bluegill, boating, swimming at the aquatic center (seasonal), hiking trails, and wildlife viewing. The park connects to nearby Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, home to Indiana's largest waterfall by volume.

Directions

From Indianapolis, take I-70 West to Exit 37 (Cloverdale). Head south on US-231 for approximately 2 miles, then turn west on Lieber Road. The park entrance is about 4 miles ahead.
