About
Settler's Cove State Recreation Site is a 275-acre park located at the end of North Tongass Highway, 18 miles north of Ketchikan in the temperate rainforest of Southeast Alaska. The campground offers 13 primitive first-come-first-served sites, some accommodating RVs up to 35 feet. Each site includes access to vault toilets and seasonal hand pump water, with fire ring grills provided throughout the campground. The park is known for its rare sandy beach along Clover Passage, a standout feature in the Ketchikan area. Kayakers and canoeists will find excellent paddling opportunities in Clover Passage, with a short-term parking area and trail access to the beach for launching. Nearby trails include the Lunch Falls Loop, Lunch Creek Trail, and the ADA-accessible Hollow Cedar Beach Access Trail offering wildlife viewing and waterfall scenery. A public-use cabin is also available for reservation within the campground, along with two reservable picnic shelters. Summer day-use hours are 6 AM to 10 PM with gates locked at 10 PM. Quiet hours are observed from 11 PM to 6 AM, and camping is limited to 7 consecutive nights.
