About

Schoolhouse Campground occupies a forested hillside along Marysville Road near the shores of Bullards Bar Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest. At 2,000 feet elevation, the 56-site campground (44 single sites, 12 double sites) sits under a mixed canopy of conifers and hardwoods that provides ample shade throughout the camping season. The campground features flush toilets, one vault toilet, and treated potable water. Bullards Bar Reservoir stretches over 16 miles with more than 60 miles of shoreline at maximum capacity. The reservoir supports year-round fishing for both warm and cold water species, and serves as a popular destination for motorized and non-motorized boating, water skiing, and swimming. Steep shoreline slopes limit beach access, but boaters can find swimming spots throughout the reservoir. The campground provides direct access to several non-motorized trails including the 0.7-mile Schoolhouse Trail, 1-mile 7 Ball Trail, 3.8-mile 8 Ball Trail, and 1.6-mile Rebel Ridge Trail. Dark Day Boat Ramp is approximately half a mile away, with Cottage Creek Boat Ramp about 3 miles distant. Supplies are available at the marina and in nearby Camptonville, North San Juan, and Dobbins.

Directions

From Nevada City, travel approximately 20 miles on Highway 49 to Marysville Road, turn left onto Marysville Road and continue approximately 4 miles to Schoolhouse Campground. From Camptonville, drive south on Highway 49 to Marysville Road, turn right, and continue 4 miles.
