About
Fiddle Creek Campground sits along the north bank of the North Yuba River, approximately 12 miles south of Downieville on Highway 49. This tent-only facility offers 15 designated campsites nestled among stands of oak, maple, locust, and pine trees that provide ample shade. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and bearproof food locker. While campsites are located close to parking areas, they cannot be directly accessed by motor vehicles, and only one vehicle per site is allowed due to limited parking. The campground provides vault toilets and drinking water, though water may be non-potable or shut off at times during the season. The North Yuba River is the main attraction, offering opportunities for swimming, wading, and rainbow trout fishing. Seasonal rafting, kayaking, and tubing are popular when water levels permit. A network of trails crisscrosses the surrounding area, with a footbridge accessing the North Yuba Trail located at nearby Rocky Rest Campground. Hunting is available in season. Bears frequent the area, and all food must be stored in the provided bearproof containers.
Directions
From Downieville, travel south on Highway 49 for about 12 miles. The campground is on the left side of the highway. From Nevada City, travel north on Highway 49 for 30 miles. The campground is on the right side of the highway.
