About

Garden Point Campground is a boat-in only facility situated on a narrow peninsula on Bullards Bar Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest. The campground features 16 campsites including 12 single family sites ($24/night) and 4 double family sites ($48/night), all surrounded by conifer and hardwood forests providing ample shade. Vault toilets are available, and campers must bring or treat water from the reservoir. The campground is accessible only by boat, requiring a launch from either Dark Day boat ramp (approximately 1 mile by boat northwest) or Emerald Cove Marina (approximately 3 miles by boat). Bullards Bar Reservoir sits at 2,000 feet elevation on the North Yuba River, with a maximum surface area of 4,760 acres, stretching over 16 miles with more than 60 miles of shoreline. The steep slopes surrounding the reservoir create dramatic scenery, and while swimming opportunities are limited near shore, boaters can find numerous swimming spots around the lake. The reservoir provides yearlong fishing opportunities for both warm and cold water fish species including kokanee salmon, trout, bass, crappie, and bluegill. Popular activities include boating, water skiing, wildlife viewing, and fishing. Nearby trail systems offer hiking and mountain biking options, including the 14-mile Bullards Bar Trail and shorter options like Rebel Ridge Trail and 8 Ball Trail. Supplies are available at Emerald Cove Marina and nearby communities of Camptonville, North San Juan, and Dobbins.

Directions

From Nevada City, travel approximately 20 miles north on Highway 49 to Marysville Road. Turn left and continue approximately 3 miles to Dark Day boat launch or 7 miles to Emerald Cove Marina. Launch your boat and navigate approximately 1 mile northwest from Dark Day or 3 miles from Emerald Cove to Garden Point Campground on the north side of Bullards Bar Reservoir. Boat-in access only.
