About

Garden Point Campground is a secluded boat-in campground situated on the north shore of Bullards Bar Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest. At approximately 2,000 feet elevation, the reservoir spans over 4,760 acres with 60 miles of shoreline. The campground is accessible only by boat, launching from either Dark Day Boat Launch (about 1 mile by water) or Emerald Cove Marina at Cottage Creek (about 3 miles). The campground features 16 campsites: 12 single-family sites and 4 double-family sites, surrounded by mixed conifer and hardwood forests providing ample shade. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on site. Campers must bring their own drinking water or filter from nearby water sources. Bullards Bar Reservoir offers year-round fishing for both warm and cold water species, along with boating, water skiing, and swimming opportunities. The surrounding area includes several non-motorized trails including the 14-mile Bullards Bar Trail. Supplies are available at the marina and nearby communities of Camptonville, North San Juan, and Dobbins.

Directions

From Nevada City, drive approximately 20 miles north on Highway 49 to Marysville Road. Turn left onto Marysville Road and travel approximately 3 miles to Dark Day Boat Launch to launch your boat. The campground is located about 1 mile northwest of the boat ramp by water, on the north side of the reservoir. Alternatively, launch from Emerald Cove Marina (about 7 miles on Marysville Road), which is approximately 3 miles from the campground by boat.
