About
Sawmill Campground is a small, lightly-used Angeles National Forest campground located at 5,200 feet elevation on Sawmill Mountain. The campground offers 8 first-come, first-served campsites, each equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. The Angeles National Forest recently completed significant improvements through Great American Outdoors Act funding, including new fire rings, bear-proof storage lockers, information boards, railings to better outline parking spots, and drainage features. The campground provides vault toilets and trash receptacles but no potable water, so visitors must bring sufficient water for cooking, cleaning, drinking, and extinguishing campfires. The facility is suitable for smaller RVs up to 16 feet in length, with no hookups available. The location offers scenic views of Antelope Valley and access to the Pacific Crest Trail for hiking and backpacking opportunities. Access requires an Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful Pass. Due to a washout on Forest Road 7N23 near Old Ridge Route, the campground must be accessed from Pine Canyon Road. From Lake Hughes, travel west on Pine Canyon Road for 7.8 miles to Forest Road 7N23, then proceed 7.3 miles to the campground on the left.
