About
Sawmill Campground is a small, rustic campground located in the Sawtooth National Forest along the East Fork of the Big Wood River. The campground features just 3 tight campsites, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Sites to pitch tents are small and somewhat limited by the aspen trees that provide shade throughout the campground. Parking is limited, making this campground best suited for tent campers and small camping vehicles; large RVs and trailers are not recommended. The campground includes a single-unit, ADA-accessible vault toilet, though individual campsites are not considered ADA-accessible. No drinking water is available, so campers must bring their own water supply. This is a non-fee campground operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. The 16-day camping limit applies, and horses or stock animals are not permitted in the campground. Reached via Forest Road #118 through the old mining town of Triumph, Sawmill Campground serves as an excellent spot for a small picnic near the creek or a quiet camping experience in the aspen-shaded setting. The area offers opportunities for stream fishing and is accessible for snowmobiling in winter months when the road is passable.
Directions
