About

Sawmill Campground is a small, free primitive campground in Sawtooth National Forest, located 11 miles east of Ketchum along Forest Road 118. The campground sits along the East Fork of the Wood River, accessible by driving through the historic mining town of Triumph. With only 3 campsites shaded by aspens, this is a quiet retreat suited for tent camping and small vehicles. Each of the 3 sites includes a fire ring and picnic table, though tent space is limited due to the aspen grove setting. An ADA-accessible SST vault toilet serves the campground, but individual sites are not wheelchair accessible. No drinking water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground offers access to stream fishing and makes an excellent base for exploring the East Fork drainage. Large RVs and trailers are not recommended due to tight sites and limited parking. No horses or stock animals are permitted. The 16-day camping limit applies.

Directions

From Ketchum, go south on ID 75 approximately 6 miles to the East Fork Big Wood River/Greenhorn Gulch traffic light, then go east (left) on Forest Road #118 approximately 11 miles, through the old mining town of Triumph, along the East Fork of the Wood River, to reach Sawmill Campground.
