About

Star Hope Campground sits at the edge of the Lost River Range in the remote Copper Basin area of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The 21-site campground is set in a wooded area with Starhope Creek flowing through, providing a scenic and peaceful camping experience. Three vault toilets serve the campground, and two hand pumps provide potable water during the summer operating season. The campground serves as a base for exploring the surrounding backcountry, including Starhope Canyon, Broad Canyon, and Bear Creek Trail. While hitching rails are provided outside the campground for equestrian visitors, horses are not allowed within the campground proper. The area offers opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing in one of Idaho's more remote mountain settings. Access requires a significant drive on forest roads from either Mackay via Trail Creek Road and Copper Basin Road, or from Sun Valley/Ketchum. The remote location and seasonal access make this campground best suited for those seeking solitude away from more developed recreation areas.

Directions
