Located in Idaho's Pioneer Mountains within the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Phi Kappa Campground provides 21 campsites nestled in a beautiful wooded setting along Trail Creek Road. This first-come, first-served campground operates seasonally and offers a peaceful retreat for campers seeking a more remote experience. The campground serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby Kane Lake, Big Fall Creek Lake, and the Sun Valley/Ketchum area. The campground features two vault toilets for visitor convenience. Campers should note that potable water is not available on-site, so bringing adequate drinking water is essential. At $10 per night, this affordable campground attracts those looking to enjoy activities like fishing in nearby streams, OHV road riding, scenic driving routes, and general mountain recreation. The natural forested setting provides a serene atmosphere for picnicking and wildlife viewing. Access to Phi Kappa Campground requires a drive on Trail Creek Road (#208), which can be reached from Mackay, Challis, or Sun Valley/Ketchum. The 23-mile drive on Trail Creek Road leads visitors deep into the Pioneer Mountains. Senior and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on camping fees. Directions

From Mackay: Take US Highway 93 approximately 16 miles north of Mackay to Trail Creek Road. Turn left on Trail Creek Road (#208) and follow this road 23 miles to the campground. From Challis: Take US Highway 93 south of Challis to Trail Creek Road. Turn right on Trail Creek Road and follow it 23 miles to the campground. From Sun Valley/Ketchum: Take Highway 75 (Main Street) to Sun Valley Road. Turn northeast onto Sun Valley Road, which becomes Trail Creek Road. Follow this road 23 miles to the campground.
