About
Fore Lake Campground is a peaceful camping destination on the western edge of Ocala National Forest, featuring 31 sites nestled in the shade of oaks and pines along Fore Lake. The lake, bounded by marshes in a scrub ecosystem, is excellent for birding, swimming, and fishing. A pier and canoe launch provide water access, though only non-motorized boats are permitted. The campground accommodates both tents and RVs, with some sites offering electric hookups. Campsites are spread among saw palmetto and oak trees, providing a natural Florida camping experience. A dump station is available free for paid campers. The main entrance gate operates from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with check-in at 3 p.m. and check-out at 11 a.m. Reservations are made through Recreation.gov, and the campground enforces a 14-day stay limit within any 30-day period across all Ocala National Forest campgrounds. A day-use area with beach access is also available for a $5 fee. The location provides opportunities to observe Florida wildlife including red-shouldered hawks in their natural habitat.
